have any information as to whether or not the fbi is on the ground in benghazi, libya, going through the consulate or not? >> it is not clear they're on the ground today, i don't know the answer to that. i can tell you a week after the incident they were not on the ground in benghazi. they were in neighboring tripoli. they were not where the crime scene was. that is deeply troubling fact. how can they not investigate the incident if they're not occurring the crime scene. that usually has to occur right after the event. i would hope they're there now. bill: what does that suggest if they are not? >> i don't know how you can do a full investigation if you can't be there to secure evidence at the scene and to be right where the event occurred to ask questions. my background as a prosecutor and i can tell you the first thing that you need to do is right at the beginning of the event you have to get the accounts, you've got to make sure the evidence is secure. the fact they haven't been there is deeply troubling. bill: could it be it is still not safe? >> well it could be that that sugges

hoffa. one of the persistent questions. why is this shed and driveway? >> the f.b.i. has this case. of course, they have been searching for years for jimmy hoffa's body. it came up where somebody complained they saw or know of a body that was buried at that location. he gave a couple of names that were tied in with jimmy hoffa at the time when he disappeared. that was the reason for the search. either they had to search for a body or jimmy hoffa's body. that is the reason for this. >> heather: this location it's about 30 miles west of where he was last seen. you mentioned those names. they are associated with the house itself? >> i think they are. one of them -- i'm not sure if they are relatives or not. the person who made that allegation the f.b.i., i think those names were connected in some way. one of those names are probably the prime suspect of disappearance of jimmy hoffa. >> heather: what are investigators looking for in these soil samples. what do they hope to find? >> anything they can find. any kind of bone, body, dna anything to prove there is a body there. does the f.b

learn from bret baier and his reporting as of right now there hasn't been a single fbi agent on the ground in benghazi. we're all looking toward that investigation because that's what we're told from the administration will provide more answers, the fbi investigation, if no one is on the ground what are we to make of that? >> i think you make a couple of things. why is anybody not on the ground? is it too dangerous for the fbi to go there? secondly if the administration says, hold your horses wait until we got full investigation and we find out there is no investigation, again, it is that drip, drip, drip. what did they know? when did they know it? why are they trying to cover it up and what is going on? it wasn't so unsafe in benghazi a cnn reporter went there several days ago and got the ambassador's personal diary. maybe somebody is there but not the united states fbi. jenna: we'll watch the continuing to develop story. kt, thanks for your insights. well have much more on the controversy over the attack on the u.s. consulate in libya. top senators on the senate foreign rel

been down this road before. >> reporter: i have. we were back here in 2006 when fbi received what it believed to be a credible tip, and they dug at the horse farm quite a bit. they spent a lot of money doing so but didn't find anything. now they're working on another tip. as you can see what's going on just over our shoulder here, the digging has begun inside that shed. what the police department is doing with some expert help is digging a small hole in concrete inside there so they can fit in a drill to get a soil sample. then they hope to deliver that on monday to michigan state university to try to determine whether there are in fact human remains below there. the question of course is one of many questions. why do police think that the tipster in this case is credible? one reason why is that they said that he claimed that he saw what could have been a body being buried right here in this area around the same time that jimmy hoffa disappeared back in 1975. the police chief says the tipster never claimed that he saw jimmy hoffa being buried here, but the timing is in the vicinit
